Choosing among the wedding venues in Ankara is the biggest and most permanent decision of the whole wedding. The date, the concept, the menu and your guests’ experience all follow from the hall you pick, and it is also the one item that is hardest to change later. This guide gathers the 12 points to check before and during your venue visits, with Ankara’s travel distances and seasons taken into account.
Use it as a scorecard: rate every venue on the same 12 headings and the comparison will make itself.
1. Capacity that matches your guest list
Start with the guest list, not with the hall. When you ask about capacity, always ask for the seated, round-table figure; cocktail capacity is always higher and misleading. Many couples allow for roughly a tenth of the list not to attend, but choosing a hall on a “completely full” basis makes it hard to move between tables. Our guide to guest numbers and hall capacity helps you settle the size you need.
2. Getting there and parking in Ankara
Ankara is a wide city; think about guests travelling from Çankaya, Keçiören, Etimesgut or from out of town. A venue close to the main roads lets everyone arrive unhurried. Ask about the size of the car park and whether valet service is available; for elderly guests and anyone in heels, the walk from the car to the hall matters. Step-free access, a lift and a wheelchair-friendly ramp belong under the same heading.
3. Light, ceiling height and atmosphere
Photographs mislead; see the hall with your own eyes, ideally in the evening. Ceiling height shapes both the decor and how airy the room feels. Check whether columns block the view, whether the dance floor is visible from the tables, and whether the lighting can be dimmed. The hall’s own colours and textures should suit your concept; reconciling dark walls with a pastel scheme means extra decor.
4. Stage, sound and lighting
The entrance, the first dance, the cake and the gift ceremony all depend on the stage. Ask how large it is, whether the sound system covers the whole room evenly, and who owns the lighting rig. Some venues hire sound and light from outside, others run it with an in-house crew. An LED screen opens up options such as an entrance video, name animations and live camera feeds.
5. Kitchen: in-house or outside catering?
Food shapes how guests remember the night. Ask whether the venue has its own kitchen, whether a menu tasting is offered and whether the service team belongs to the venue. With an in-house kitchen, the menu, the timing of service and special dietary needs are all handled by one contact. Our wedding menu guide walks through the options.
6. Bridal room and preparation areas
A bridal room is not only a comfort; it rescues the timing of the day. Look at its size, mirror, lighting and distance from the hall. Ask whether there is a separate waiting or VIP room for the groom and close family; a quiet place away from the crowd before the entrance helps everyone.
7. Date flexibility and season
In Ankara, Saturday evenings between late spring and early autumn are the first to fill. Winter months and weekdays leave venue calendars far more flexible. Because indoor halls do not depend on the weather, they become an advantage for winter weddings; the uncertainty of a rainy November evening at an outdoor venue simply does not exist in a hall.
8. What the quote includes, and what it does not
Two quotes can only be compared if they cover the same items. Ask in writing which of the following are included: food, beverages, tables and chairs, linen, stage, sound and lighting, basic decor, service staff, bridal room, parking and valet. Discovering in the final month that an item you assumed was included is charged separately hurts the budget. Our wedding venue pricing guide explains how quotes work.
9. Is there another event on the same day?
Some venues run more than one hall at the same time. That is not a problem in itself; what matters is the sound insulation between halls, whether the entrances are separate and whether the car park can serve both events. Ask, and see it in person if needed.
10. One team or many suppliers?
When a venue provides the kitchen, decor, flowers, stage, sound, lighting and photo-video from its own team, the coordination load drops sharply: one contract, one contact and one payment schedule. Also ask whether outside suppliers are allowed; if you want to bring your own photographer or band, the conditions should be written into the contract.
11. References and real wedding footage
Look beyond the venue’s own photo shoots for posts and reviews by couples who married there. Details such as the speed of service, the balance of the sound and the adequacy of the car park are best learned from real guests. The venue’s reviews page and social media tags are a good place to start.
12. Contract and cancellation terms
The date, hall name, guest count, menu, included services, payment schedule and cancellation or postponement terms should all be written clearly into the contract. Also settle when the final guest count is due and how increases or decreases after that date are handled.
